Privacy Policy

TopBlock ("TopBlock," "we," "us") is a writing tool that helps users draft U.S. Army evaluations. This policy explains what information we collect when you use TopBlock, how we use it, and your rights regarding it.

TopBlock is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the United States Army or the Department of Defense.

When you use TopBlock, you provide information directly to the tool — including the rated soldier's rank and duty position, the type of evaluation, accomplishments you type or upload as PDFs, box check intent, narrative intent, observations, and any regenerate-guidance text you submit. We refer to this as "Evaluation Content."

If you contact us through the contact form, we receive your name, email address, selected topic, and the message you send.

Evaluation Content is processed in your browser session and sent to our generation service to produce the evaluation output. It is not saved to a TopBlock database. It persists only in your browser's session storage while your tab is open and is cleared when the tab is closed.

Evaluation Content is transmitted to the language service for processing under the service commercial API terms. The service does not use API content to train their models. Please contact for additional details.

You are responsible for what you submit. Do not upload or paste classified information, controlled unclassified information (CUI), Social Security numbers, full dates of birth, family information, or any other personally identifiable information you are not authorized to share with a commercial cloud service.

When you visit TopBlock, our hosting provider (Vercel) and any analytics services we use may collect technical information including your IP address, browser type, device type, referring page, and pages visited. This is used for site operation, abuse prevention, and understanding how the tool is used.

TopBlock uses browser session storage to keep your in-progress draft available across the pages of a single session. This is not a tracking cookie and does not persist after you close the tab.

If we add analytics that use cookies (such as PostHog or Plausible), we will update this policy and, where required by law, request consent.

We use the information described above to operate the tool, respond to inquiries you send through the contact form, prevent abuse, and improve TopBlock. We do not sell your information.

TopBlock relies on the following third-party services to operate:

• Vercel — hosting and infrastructure
• Anthropic — language model API for generating evaluation content
• Supabase — database and authentication (when account features are enabled)
• Resend — email delivery for contact form submissions

Each of these providers has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data we send them.

Evaluation Content is not retained on TopBlock's systems after your browser session ends. Contact form submissions are retained in our email inbox indefinitely so we can respond to follow-ups. Server logs from our hosting provider are retained per Vercel's standard retention.

You may contact us at any time to request deletion of any information we hold about you. Because TopBlock does not save Evaluation Content, this typically applies only to contact form messages and server logs.

TopBlock is intended for use by U.S. Army personnel and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

We may update this policy as the tool evolves. Material changes will be reflected in the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of TopBlock after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
